About Us and Our Mission

The mission of the Whitman College Black Student Union is to educate and bring exposure of African-American culture to the Whitman campus. We bring various speakers, programs, and put on events, in order to promote our club's mission. One of our most popular events is the semi-annual hip hop dance that is always well attended and occurs in the Reid Ballroom. We also bring speakers and sponsor movies that have themes of African-American culture. We are a club that intends to facilitate a dialogue about race. The club is open to all students, faculty, and staff that are interested in African-American culture, regardless of race or ethnicity.
